Grand Easter Exhibition 2008

About the Show and its Volunteers

The Yarra Glen Art Show started when three friends had an idea to showcase local Yarra Valley artists and a vision of one day having enough funds to have a permanent gallery and studio space for local artists and the community.

From a simple beginning, the Yarra Glen art show is now in its seventh year (2008) and has grown so much in popularity that over 50 volunteers and 500 artworks including painting, sculpture and pottery are exhibited in the new facilities at Balgownie Estates - Yarra Valley over the Easter long weekend. Last year saw over 3400 visitors pass through the show to view the wide range of art works.

Helped with a grant from the Shire of Yarra Ranges, as well as support from local businesses, the art show has grown from a small country show at a local café to its present location at Balgownie.

Commissions raised from the sale of artworks this year are going to The Good Friday Appeal. The common goal of the "Good Friday Appeal" is to raise money for The Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, and to ensure that all children with life threatening illnesses receive the best possible medical and clinical care. In 2005, $4000 was donated to LARCH, another fund of the Royal Children's Hospital. In 2006. $4,000 from the sales and $1,400 in gold coin donations was given to the Good Friday Appeal.
