- When and how did the Cat's Miaow start?
We started in mid 1992 so we could record some songs Andrew & I had
written. The line up has stayed the same since then. Kerrie, Andrew,
Bart and Cam.
- Where does the name of the band come from?
It's an old American saying, it means "the coolest".
- Tell us about the Bart & Friends CD.
It's a CD of collaborations with friends of mine. Each song sounds like
a different band, there's about 5 other people singing. It took me
about 2 years to finish, so I can't really get perspective on whether
it's any good or not, although I am happy with the way it turned out.
Steve's (Crushworthy) sleeve looks great. It also contains 20 Cat's Miaow bonus tracks.

- What can you tell me about the music the Cat's Miaow make?
I don't think we do anything special. We like to keep things simple and
concise. We usually record at home on a 4 track.
- Do you still live in Australia?
Yes, we still live in Australia. At this point in time we are all
quite happy to be here because of our girlfriends/boyfriends, and we
all have jobs and other commitments.
- What are your musical influences?
When we started we were into things like the Clean and other
New Zealand bands on flying nun, Beat happening, Wedding Present,
Phil Spector and Orange Juice. But we have huge record collections
and listen to lots of things that don't really sound like the Cats Miaow.
